So a week ago last Sunday, I was listening to CBC Radio 1: Cross Country Check Up. The question was "Should Dual Citizenship Holders Lose Their Canadian Citizenship in the Event That They be Found Guilty of Terrorism."
I called in and answered. You can hear what I had to say at 0:59:00.

Very eloquently put! I am in the same situation as you, born in Canada from European parents. A second citizenship in my case was even of some benefit to other Canadians. During the high-tech economic downturn, a contract job in Europe in a field that was jobless at home kept me from unemployment or social assistance. I also like your "slippery slope" argument. Most of all, I am bothered by the implication that dual citizens are more likely to be criminals or terrorists. A media stereotype that fuels the support for these misguided laws.
ReplyDeleteThank you. I was quite upset by this as well. I am glad I got to say my piece and that it affected later discourse as well. :)
DeleteThere are a lot of great reasons for having multiple citizenships.
