I am asking everyone to send in pictures of anyone who is at risk or has been hurt by people who choose not to vaccinate. Let us put a face to the countless who have been hurt by preventable illnesses.
I will not stand idly by as my life is put in danger by misinformation!
I will create a wall or website to feature all of the pictures and stories submitted. If you would like to submit email me at dearania (at) gmail or post as a comment in this thread. You can also tweet me.
Edit:
The pictures are starting to come in:

Hi Ania,
ReplyDeleteHope you're okay with my promotion of this on my blog.

Absolutely. Thanks so much!
DeleteLove the idea- it's a great message. I hope to see these pictures spread and open people's eyes.
ReplyDeleteI don't know where you want these pictures sent. I have one you can use.
ReplyDeleteYou can email me directly at dearania (at) gmail
DeleteI can put the pictures up here after that. I am working on setting up either a fb page or an actual site to host all the pictures.
If vaccines will protect those who receive them, then why is there a fear of the unvaccinated? Do the vaccines work or not? And why are most of those who are contracting "vaccine-preventable" diseases those who have been vaccinated? If you think the vaccines work for you, then you should have no fear whatsoever of those who choose not to vaccinate. Logical, no?????????
ReplyDeleteNo. Your answer is neither logical, nor fact based. I suggest you look up the post prior to this one as a start.
Delete1. Not everyone can vaccinate even if they want to. For example, myself: I am on immunosuppressants and so cannot take live vaccines like the MMR. There are also people who are allergic to eggs. They cannot take the vaccine either. We rely on other poeple vaccinating to protect us. When otherwise healthy people don't vaccinate, they put our lives at risk.
2. Children have a weaker immune system. While the vaccine does work to prevent catching those illnesses, when exposed directly to the infection through someone who is sick, their own immunity might still be too weak despite the vaccine. Vaccination builds up a barrier between vulnerable members of society and the infection. If all the children in the class are vaccinated, as are all their parents, the chances for children to come in contact with the illness are a lot smaller. Thus the risk of catching the illness is a lot smaller.
I am sure a doctor would be better able to explain all this to you if you still do not understand. Also, I will have a graphic based post explaining all this soon.
The last reply is by someone who obviously has a few screws loose. There are contraindications for vaccines - those who are allergic to the components and therefore need herd immunity for protection is an example. Those who don't vaccinate due to dogmatic ignorance put those people at risk who are unable to vaccinate. God, it's like banging your head against a brick wall with these idiots!!!
ReplyDeletePerhaps using captions like "Bob is allergic to eggs and can't take the flu vaccine. This is who you're putting at risk by not vaccinating" would help with getting the message across to the hard-of-thnking like "Logical, no?????????" above.
ReplyDeleteThis is about more than the flu vaccine, however, I will take that under advisement. You may have a good point. It is hard to fit all of the necessary information in a picture.
